NAL is leading a movement fighting for inclusive democracy by equipping immigrants, refugees, and their allies with the tools they need to realize their potential by running for and holding elected office, as well as engaging in civic action that brings their voices to the forefront of American politics. We uplift new Americans — anyone who identifies closely with the immigrant experience — by tackling equity in representation. We believe that our democracy is stronger when everyone can participate. Unfortunately, our elected government, from city council to Congress, does not reflect our country’s diverse population. By galvanizing and investing in new Americans, we work to achieve an inclusive democracy that benefits from the insight, potential, and power of our newest citizens and their allies.
