Opportunity
We are looking for a mid-level IT Specialist to join our team in Berlin, Germany. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in IT Support, with a strong focus on customer service.
The Europe IT Specialist (Berlin) will be responsible for providing support to our users, both in person and remotely. This includes responding to daily tech requests from staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing and configuring new equipment, onboarding and offboarding staff, managing the Berlin office’s daily IT Operations, and participating in other Tech and Operations projects as needed.
The Europe IT Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining the existing IT infrastructure in the Berlin office, including the network and firewall. They will also work closely with the Europe Technology Systems Manager and other Tech and Operations staff.
The Europe IT Specialist reports to the US Technology Systems Manager and has dotted reporting line to IRAP Europe Co-Director - Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical support requests via an internal ticketing system, and occasionally chat and video calls, in a timely manner for global IRAP staff (within their timezone)
  • Own the procurement, management, maintenance, and inventory of computers, phones, and workstation peripherals in Europe
  • Co-administer, manage, and support macOS, iOS, Windows, various SaaS applications, Google Workspace, Jamf, Intune, and Okta
  • Own the Tech onboarding and offboarding processes in Europe, including end-to-end setup of new hires and running new hire onboarding calls
  • Create and update internal documentation on a regular basis
  • Train staff occasionally on using IT resources and SaaS applications
  • Collaborate on projects with other members of the Tech team or Operations
  • Own the maintenance of and updates for the Berlin office network and firewall and/or manage contractor relationships for such responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the Berlin office conferencing system
  • Collaborate with other Tech staff on the implementation of SSO & related best practices

Qualifications

  • Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a role providing technical support within a business, governmental, nonprofit, or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of computer functionality, and understanding of Google Workspace, and Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning new technologies and applications, coupled with the ability to rapidly assimilate new information and topics
  • Meet the needs of others who request assistance from IT always with empathy and consideration towards continuous improvements that can be made.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Read relevant documentation and/or be willing to be trained to learn how to handle new responsibilities.
  • Strong skills in business German (min. B2) and English (min. C1), with strong written and verbal communication skills in both
  • Eligible to work in Germany. Transfer of residence permit supported.

  • Relevant academic degree is a plus but not required
  • Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Wireless)
  • Experience with security technologies
  • Stay up to date on the latest IT trends and technologies
Location: The candidate will work in IRAP’s office in Berlin. This position is expected to be onsite in the Berlin office 3 days per week. Depending on project needs or special circumstances, there may be weeks requiring onsite work for more than 3 days per week.
This position may require travel to IRAP office locations, including but not limited to: Beirut, Amman, and the U.S. at a frequency of 1-3 weeks per year.
The onsite requirement will be reviewed after 6 months. The Berlin office address is:

This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.
Compensation
This role is paid on a step scale based on years of work experience and education. The salary will be between €61,504 - €73,439. This role offers an unlimited contract, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
