Summary

The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful, and creative Policy Coordinator to join our growing team. The person in this role will be responsible for coordinating and elevating GPAHE’s public education and policy recommendations, and promoting public-sector and policymaker support for programs and policies that further our mission of strengthening a diverse global community committed to exposing and countering extremism and protecting democratic ideals.

Applicants to this position should have an understanding of the current U.S. extremism landscape, strong written and communication skills, understand the principles of the domestic political and policymaking process, (some understanding of processes outside the U.S. is welcome) foundational research skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

This position is fully remote with a preference for candidates based in the U.S. Applicants with significant experience who are based outside the U.S. will be considered on a limited basis. Primary job functions:

  • Track and report on key legislative hearings and advocacy opportunities;
  • Support in the creation of clear and concise policy materials, briefs, letters of support, fact sheets, and other mobilization efforts for a variety of internal and external audiences;
  • Participate in the development of policy priorities;
  • Collaborate with GPAHE leadership and partners to plan public awareness engagement for key audiences including legislators, stakeholders, and the general public;
  • Schedule, plan, and take notes at meetings, roundtables, and public events;
  • Support the logistics of policy training, public presentations, and outreach events;
  • Participate in in-person collaboration and team meetings;
  • Support GPAHE’s coalition efforts; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Understanding of the current U.S. political landscape as it relates to extremism, authoritarianism, and preserving democracy; understanding of multilateral organizations and international political processes welcome;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise documents, incorporating attention to detail;
  • Experience in coordinating initiatives and strong time management, project management, and organizational skills;
  • Experience with related research and analytical skills;
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Two – four years of related experience in policy, communications, advocacy, or government settings;
  • Track record of successful policy engagement;
  • Proficiency in non-English language welcome;
  • BA in a related field;
  • Commitment to the mission and values of GPAHE; and
  • Commitment to the ideals of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with experience. GPAHE offers employees a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, and generous personal leave and vacation time.

Work designation:

This role is fully remote. The Policy Coordinator may be required to travel for occasional meetings or activities as determined by GPAHE.
