Global Project Against Hate and Extremism
Research Analyst – Fully Remote Position
GPAHE research analysts monitor far-right extremist movements and trends in multiple issue areas, and collect data that forms the basis of publications and other GPAHE projects. The research analyst plays an important role in our efforts to combat far-right, transnational extremism that undermines democracies, developing and producing impactful content and other in-depth publications and reports, usually in collaboration with GPAHE colleagues. Applicants outside the United States will be considered.
Primary Job Functions:
- Monitors, collects, enters, and maintains data as directed and ensures data integrity;
- Uses open-source information and techniques to collect data on far-right extremism;
- Uses creative and critical thinking to address complex research questions;
- Researches and writes for ongoing projects on far-right extremism in countries covered by GPAHE;
- Communicates analysis of complex issues via a range of products, including articles, reports, PowerPoints, data visualization, and/or other tools;
- Answers correspondence and inquiries from external stakeholders
- Works collaboratively with GPAHE staff;
- And other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Related Work Experience:
- Two years of experience preferred in researching, monitoring, analyzing, and writing on white supremacy, far-right extremism that impacts marginalized communities and undermines democracies, and/or related topics;
- Demonstrated track record of qualitative research experience;
- Proficiency in non-English language highly preferred;
- BA in journalism, sociology, political science, or related topics.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills;
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and collaboration;
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely;
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated familiarity with data management and open-source investigation (OSINT) techniques preferred;
- Computer proficient;
- Commitment to the mission and values and advocacy of GPAHE;
- Commitment to ideals of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience. GPAHE offers employees a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, and generous personal leave and vacation time.
Work Designation:
This role is fully remote and applicants outside the U.S will be considered. The research analyst may be required to travel for occasional meetings or activities as determined by GPAHE.
Other Special Considerations:
This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.
