This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Providence, RI and will be 15 hours per week. You will report to the State Director, Rhode Island.

Common Cause is seeking an intern to work with our Rhode Island team relating to voting and elections, government transparency, and democracy reform. Interns will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, research, , communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Mobilizing activists and community members in support of our policy priorities and legislative agenda, using digital and in-person organizing tools and tactics
  • Developing a volunteer engagement program to build and sustain a nonpartisan pro-democracy movement
  • Creating websites, newsletters, and social media content, including blog posts, graphics, one-pagers, training materials, videos, or other content types
  • Organizing and promoting in-person, hybrid, and virtual events such as webinars, rallies, trainings, press conferences, community presentations, and/or educational sessions.
  • Promoting the organization’s work and educational resources at community events.

Qualifications:

    You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:

  • A passion for learning about elections, organizing, and the legislative process
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills
